Join us each Saturday morning for provocative discussions, meaningful connections, insightful observations, and plenty of hearty laughter as we study Torah the way it was meant to be studied: in a group!
“One of my favorite times of the week is Shabbat mornings when my husband and I walk to Wise to join the Spirit of Shabbat,” says Wise member and Spirit of Shabbat regular Sharona Shenassa. “The lessons and conversations are always interesting and thought-provoking. I walk away feeling more knowledgeable and empowered by all that our Torah has to offer!”
At Spirit of Shabbat, you get to immerse yourself in the songs and prayers of Shabbat, which set the tone for an hour of deep and engaging Torah study where we work to uncover the timeless wisdom embedded in our ancient tradition. With Rabbi Yoshi and other members of the clergy as our guides, we apply that wisdom to issues relevant to our present historical moment.
“I love coming to learn every week,” says teacher Melinda Ahdoot. “I learn a lot and I love hearing different perspectives on what we study.”
We conclude each session with a chance to say Kaddish, both in appreciation of our learning together and as an opportunity to memorialize our loved ones. Most sessions are held on our Stephen Wise Temple campus, some are hosted in participants’ homes, and all will also be available on Zoom.
The experience starts each Saturday morning at 8:45 a.m. with reflection, continues with Torah study at 9:00 am, and finishes with closing prayers at 9:50.
Join us as we study, learn, and grow together!
