It is with profound gratitude that we announce a major legacy gift from Roy Kaufman, Z”L. We are truly humbled, honored, and inspired that Roy bestowed this significant bequest in memory of his beloved wife Judi, Z”L, towards the Master Plan for our Temple and Schools.

Judi and Roy, longtime members of Stephen Wise Temple, will be forever remembered in the beautiful new Welcoming Pavilion, a versatile, inviting, state-of-the-art lobby for our Sanctuary building (further plans for which will be announced at a later date). Their incredible generosity will ensure that future generations may benefit from the warmth, meaning, and inspiration found on our campus.

The lasting legacy gift is a meaningful show of leadership that will affect not only the Stephen Wise Temple and Schools community but also the Los Angeles Jewish community at large. Roy’s vision will help sustain us for years to come, allowing a great many others the opportunity to participate and create legacies of their own on the Wise campus and in our community.

Roy’s leadership gift allows us to now announce our master plan for our home. As we prepare for the next 50 years in our history, we stand ready to create a new vision that will further inspire families to greater personal growth and Jewish learning, and help them attain a deeper and more profound understanding of what it means to be a member of Stephen Wise Temple and the Jewish community.

By leveraging existing buildings and tying them together with a new, green Campus Commons, Stephen Wise Temple and Schools will become the best possible version of itself; a bustling, thriving campus comprised of diversity, creativity, excitement, and deep Jewish connection.

With gratitude, love, and kavod, we deeply mourn Judi and Roy’s passings while also expressing our admiration and appreciation for the kindness and care they shared with friends and family here at Wise.

Zichronam Livrachah, may their memory be for a blessing.
