As emergency responders and volunteers still struggle to provide immediate relief to stranded, separated, and grieving families in Houston, an impatient nation has already started to piece together the story of Hurricane Harvey and its devastation. Unfortunately, as is often the case, even before news of those trapped or killed by the hurricane appeared, the on-air pundits of every political persuasion once again began to pound their platforms and transformed a humanitarian crisis into a partisan sideshow by lending their efforts toward finding fault rather than mobilizing an effective response.

Wise Readers to Leaders receives $250,000 Cutting Edge Grant from Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles​

Wise Readers to Leadears is proud to be a receipient of a Cutting Edge Grant from Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles among many deserving tikkun olam programs throughout the city. This grant will help Wise Readers to Leaders grow its reach to accommodate even more LAUSD students and Jewish teens throughout the summer and academic year, bringing scholars and leaders together for learning, inspiration, and life-changing experiences.

Tashlich at the Beach

Bring a blanket to the beach for an uplifting gathering of song and inspiration as we prepare for the coming of the new year. Hear the sound of the shofar resonating against the crashing waves as we cast our misdeeds into the sea. This beautifully symbolic ritual is a cherished tradition for all ages!

Standing at the Gates: A S’lichot Experience

Saturday, September 16 at 7 p.m. | Wilshire Boulevard Temple

Rabbis, cantors, and choirs of five congregations will join together for music, worship, study, food, and prayers of forgiveness. Stephen Wise Temple clergy will team up with clergy from Wilshire Boulevard Temple, Kehillat Israel, Temple Isaiah, and University Synagogue for this evening of reflection and learning.

Family High Holy Days Services

Experience the joy of the High Holy Days as a family with our musical, story-filled services. Our family services have become a favorite way to celebrate the High Holy Days with your Stephen Wise Temple community. Adults and kids of all generations will love the upbeat music, complete involvement, and enchanting stories presented by the Stephen Wise Temple clergy.
