Wise Delegation Attends AIPAC Policy Conference

Along with members of our congregation, I have just returned from the AIPAC Policy Conference in Washington, D.C.

Speakers at the plenary sessions included Ambassador Nikki Haley, Senator Charles Schumer, Vice President Mike Pence, Israeli Labor Party Chairman Avi Gabbay, Con. Nancy Pelosi, Senator Mitch McConnell, Con. Grace Meng, Senator Robert Mendendez. Prime Minister Netanyahu was the closing speaker.

Also featured were some of Israel’s technological gifts to our world all of which engender great pride.

Wise Welcomes Parkland Students to Speak at Shabbat Services
Friday, March 23 at 6:15 p.m.
Please join us for a powerful Shabbat evening service where we will welcome Mia Freeman and Hayley Licata, two students from Parkland, Florida who survived February’s shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School. Mia and Hayley will share their experiences, tell their story, and speak about actions being taken around the nation to advocate for sensible gun control.
Please note: some content may be troubling, especially for younger attendees. Child care is available during Shabbat services.

Wise will provide shuttle service on Saturday, March 24 for those planning to attend the March for Our Lives in Downtown Los Angeles. Please RSVP here.

During the Passover season, help us remember the struggle of our ancestors by providing aid to those in need today. Bring your non-perishable food items to our SOVA drop-off locations and bins on campus. You can even bring your unopened chametz to provide for SOVA! At our SOVA Market on Friday, March 16, your donation of $5, $10, or $25 will help fill up a bag of non-perishable items for those in need! Founder’s Day Service

Each year around his birthday (March 17) the Wise community honors our namesake, Rabbi Stephen Wise, and our founding generation. It is a meaningful and educational experience for all of our students, teachers, clergy, and parents – a highlight of our calendar. This year we will also honor and remember our founder, Rabbi Isaiah Zeldin, of blessed memory. All founding generation families are invited to join us for the service in the Sanctuary, followed by lunch. In 2008, Time Magazine described him as one of the 100 most influential people in the world.
