Ally Karpel
Rabbinic Education Intern
Ally is a rabbinical student at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR) in Los Angeles, where she is also pursuing a Master of Jewish Educational Leadership (MEdL). Originally from Dallas, Texas, she received her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where she studied speech-language pathology and social work. There, she held multiple leadership roles at Texas Hillel and served as president of the University Interfaith Council.
Before rabbinical school, Ally worked for the Religious Action Center and Women of Reform Judaism, where she led federal and state advocacy efforts around economic justice, labor rights, disability rights, gender-based violence, and reproductive rights. Since coming to HUC, Ally has served as the student rabbi for communities in Charlotte, North Carolina and Juneau, Alaska. Most recently, she worked as a Chaplain Intern at Emory University Hospital, where she served the diverse spiritual needs of patients and staff alike. Her hobbies include hiking, exploring nature, reading poetry, and belting show tunes in the car.
