Spirit of Shabbat: Megillah Edition

Each and every Shabbat, we gather for an hour and work together to uncover the timeless wisdom embedded in our ancient tradition through deep and engaging Torah study. On Saturday, March 15 at 8:30 a.m., though, we will turn our attention towards the Book of Esther; a text filled with satire, drama, and palace intrigue—set against the backdrop of ancient Persia and featuring one of the true villains of Jewish history. As always, we will enjoy evocative and provocative conversations about a variety of topics—connecting our newly uncovered wisdom with issues relevant to our current historical moment.

Hamantaschen Recipe for Purim

Hamentaschen

Hamantaschen (or hamentaschen) are named for the hat worn by Haman, the bad guy of the Purim story, and they are a perfect Purim snack for you and your family to enjoy and bake together at home!

Melissa Wilkenfeld, a Wise School alum and Aaron Milken Center teacher, has shared a recipe her mother learned right here on campus! At the link below, you will find the minimal ingredients for the recipe to make the little triangular cookie that will literally melt in your mouth! Traditional fillings include apricot and poppy, but get creative and include some of your family’s favorites!
