As many of you may already know, I am coming to the end of my time at Stephen Wise Temple. My last official day will be June 30th. As I prepare for this transition, I find myself reflecting on the profound journey we’ve shared over these past three and a half years.
My path began simply as a song leader for our preschool and religious school before evolving into my role as Cantorial Intern for the last three years. This sacred responsibility has allowed me to help lead our community through High Holiday services, Shabbat gatherings, B’nei Mitzvah celebrations, holiday observances, and day school services. I’ve had the privilege of tutoring B’nei Mitzvah students, teaching Hebrew school classes, helping to officiate weddings, and singing at memorial services. Words cannot fully express what it has meant to be entrusted with guiding this community through our most joyous celebrations and our most tender moments of grief. As I prepare to take this next step in my journey—bringing my voice to guide another congregation—I carry with me the invaluable lessons learned within these walls.
Among the countless memories I’ll treasure, two stand out with particular clarity: The first was during my first Rosh Hashanah with you. I had the honor of singing Avinu Malkeinu while standing before the ark filled with our beautiful Torahs. It was my first time leading High Holiday services and my first experience standing before such a large congregation. In that moment, I felt the divine presence washing over me. The weight of our 3,000-year history seemed to fill the sanctuary, our ancestors spiritually present among us. That powerful, transcendent experience of serving this community is something I will carry in my heart forever. For this gift, I thank you.
The second memory that will stay with me always is the day after October 7th. Together, we hosted a citywide memorial service with speakers, singers, and cantors from across Los Angeles. Never before had I witnessed so many Jews gathered in one space—standing room only, united in grief and solidarity. In the difficult months that followed, I’ve observed nothing but unwavering love for Israel and our people from this remarkable community. The way everyone has rallied, showing up for each other and for Israel, has been nothing short of inspirational. For this strength and unity, I again thank you.
These moments represent just a glimpse of the countless ways this community has shaped me both professionally and spiritually. Stephen Wise Temple has been more than a place of work—it has been a place of growth, connection, and profound purpose. Though I may be continuing my journey elsewhere, a piece of my heart will always remain here with all of you.
