Teen Leadership Opportunities


Madrichim Program
This is a leadership and skill building program targeted towards high school students. Participants work as a teachers aid in the Religious School every Sunday morning and meet with the Madrichim Coordinator every week to build skills, discuss classroom experiences with other Madrichs and collaborate on projects. Students receive community service hours or an hourly pay. To join the Madrichim program for the 2012-2013 school year, contact Terry Wunder at [email protected].
WTY Student Board
Interested in being part of the leadership that will continue to grow the NFTY youth group here at Stephen Wise Temple? The WTY Board organizes Jewish teen social events, develops and implements community building programs at WTY on Sundays, and represents WTY at NFTY retreats throughout the year where they will learn valuable leadership skills. Counselor-In-Training (CIT) – Camp Wise Summer
This four week program at Camp Wise Summer Day Camp provides teens entering Grade 10 the opportunity to develop their leadership abilities, learn how to lead informal educational programs, and teach valuable team building skills. Although CITs are not compensated monetarily, they will be rewarded through personal growth, professional development and 150 hours of community service. Furthermore, with the on-the-job experience gained, exceptional CITs may have the opportunity to become paid staff members in the future.

Junior Servant Leader Intern (JSLI)-Summer
A perfect opportunity for high school age children to be involved in a summer internship where they can really make a difference in the lives of under-privileged children. JSLI’s assist our Servant Leader Interns (college-age teachers) at Freedom School Summer Program in the classrooms as well as with the overall program, helping with reading time, assisting with afternoon camp-like activities, etc. This is an opportunity for our youth to see their actions are truly the work of Tikkun Olam that comes deeply from within one’s Jewish soul. They will have the capacity to change lives for the better – forever!
