Purim 2022

Purim Events

Thank you so much for joining our Super Purim Carnival on Sunday. We at Wise hope you had a SPECTACULAR, AMAZING, INCREDIBLE time! To see our community united in celebration of all kinds of heroes was truly special, and it could not have happened without you.

We would love to hear what you thought about our Super Purim Carnival, and so we’ve assembled a quick survey. Remember: Your responses will help us continue to put on the best Purim carnival in Los Angeles every year.

Wise CYE families and clergy participated in an immersive Purim experience featuring Jordan B. “Gorf” Gorfinkel, a graphic artist and veteran editor of DC’s “Batman” comic books. “Gorf” took our youth and their families through the Purim story in the most immersive way possible—by writing and drawing it themselves! Take a look at their handwork below or click here!

Matanot L’evyonim for Purim:
Hands-on tikkun olam opportunity to give gifts to those in need

In their celebration after the end of Haman, and in gratitude for their lives being spared, the Purim story in the Megillah says that:

מֵי מִשְׁתֶּה וְשִׂמְחָה וּמִשְׁלוֹחַ מָנוֹת אִישׁ לְרֵעֵהוּ וּמַתָּנוֹת לָאֶבְיוֹנִים׃

“They [the Jews] were to observe them as days of feasting and merrymaking, and as an occasion for sending gifts to one another and presents to the poor.”

Esther 9:22

As we celebrate our own redemption from these two years of pandemic with our first post-COVID carnival, let’s celebrate Purim by giving essential food to members of our community that are food insecure. We recommend these food items

  • Canned soup.
  • Canned fruit.
  • Canned vegetables.
  • Canned stew.
  • Canned fish.
  • Canned beans.
  • Pasta
  • Rice

Hygiene produces are also welcomed!
