Shabbat Shirah at Stephen Wise Temple
Friday, February 3 at 6:15 p.m. | Sanctuary | In-Person or Watch Online
Join us on Friday, February 3 for an evening of soul, song, and Shabbat as we celebrate Shabbat Shirah with music and communal gathering.
Shabbat Shirah, the “Sabbath of Song,” is the name given to the Shabbat on which we read Parashat Beshalach in the Book of Exodus. In that portion, the former Hebrew slaves flee across the parted Sea of Reeds and turn to witness it close over their Egyptian pursuers. Led by Miriam and accompanied by her timbrels, we sang a joyous song of deliverance: The Song of the Sea. It is a Shabbat full of joy, elation, meaningful music, and—at Wise—congregational participation!
Senior Rabbi Yoshi Zweiback and Senior Cantor Emma Lutz will lead the service, accompanied by the Stephen Wise Temple Band.
That same evening, we will also be celebrating the lifelong learners from our Melton School for Adult Jewish Learning at Wise. Rabbi David Woznica will deliver the d’var Torah.
Come to sing, come to rejoice, come to learn! Above all: Come! We would love to celebrate in-person with our community.
