On Wednesday, the American Red Cross and Stephen Wise Temple blood drive collected 25 pints of blood, thanks to the selfless generosity of our community.
The nation is in a dire blood supply shortage, making each pint all the more important. Each pint can save up to three lives, and as we read in the Mishnah: “Anyone who saves a life is as if he saved an entire world” (Sanhedrin 4:5).
With the 25 pints (including three Power Red donations) Wise donated on Wednesday, we have now helped collect 241 units of blood during the COVID-19 pandemic. That means that our total blood drive donations during the pandemic could save 723 lives.
“The warmth that all the donors brought was wonderful,” said Nina Minton, Account Manager for the American Red Cross’s Donor Resources Development department. “Wise is a truly wonderful place! Again and again, we come back to partners such as Stephen Wise Temple as a beacon through the difficult times that we have had to go through and we owe a huge debt of gratitude for all of your help in keeping us afloat.”
Between our December blood drive and the one just concluded, Wise has donated 60 pints of blood in the last six months. Stay tuned for more tikkun olam opportunities in the coming year.
