This past weekend, many more critically needed supplies arrived at United Hatzalah of Israel’s warehouse in Ukraine, funded by donations from our Stephen Wise Temple community and Congregation B’nai Jeshurun of New Jersey.
In response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine this spring, Wise and CBJ partnered with United Hatzalah to help fund Operation Orange Wings. Through Operation Orange Wings, much-needed food, medical supplies, and volunteer medics are transported to Ukraine and Moldova on chartered planes, which then return to Israel full of refugees seeking safety. Before this past weekend, two planes full of a total of 231 refugees have landed in Israel thanks to Wise and CBJ, and Wise donations have helped enable the delivery of over 20 tons of food and supplies to those in need.
This past weekend, another 18 tons of critical supplies were delivered by Operation Orange Wings, including IVs, ventilators, medication, antibiotics, tourniquets, hemostatic bandages, and 300 additional individualized first aid kits. These kits serve as medical trauma bags and are given to doctors and medics helping treat injured civilians. Also among the supplies: food, feminine products, and hygiene products.
These supplies will now be divided up and brought to cities throughout Ukraine to ensure that hospitals and communities have what they need in order to continue their important work in the midst of the ongoing Russian invasion. Below, you can view a video of volunteers in the warehouse unloading the 37 pallets for distribution.
“This lifesaving work only happens because of you and your communities’ generosity,” said Michael Littenberg-Brown, Vice President of Friends of United Hatzalah. “We are so grateful for your partnership!”
Last month, the founder and CEO of United Hatzalah, Eli Beer, joined Wise for a special Shabbat. You can listen to his comments here, or watch full video here.
