The Power of (Re) Telling our Stories

At Stephen Wise Temple’s Camp Shabbat on July 21, 2023 in Casden Chapel, our Rabbi Josh Knobel reminds us that so much of Jewish tradition is about not only laws and ritual and observance, but stories. Through the story of Rabbi Akiva, who could not read or write at the age of 40, we are reminded that it is through the power of storytelling that we remember not only the ‘what,’ but the ‘why.’ As we begin the final book of the Torah, D’varim, we are reminded that hearing stories again and again and again helps make them a part of us.
