During the High Holy Days, the Stephen Wise Temple and Schools community did its part to help the underserved and housing insecure of Los Angeles.
Wise’s Yom Kippur Family Mitzvah Project gave families a chance to give back, as they donated toiletries and everyday supplies for Hope the Mission and assembled over 30 hygiene bags for families who will be temporarily housed at the Woodlands Family Housing shelter in Winnetka. Along with hygiene kits, Wise families also collected and packaged school and art supplies for children of families who will be temporarily housed at The Woodlands.
To make those families feel more at-home, Wise community children crafted colorful God’s Eye decorations during the afternoon in the Tyberg Innovation Lab at Wise School.
Throughout the High Holy Days, Wise families donated warm winter clothing in bins around campus for the Volunteer Collective’s Interfaith Layer Up Winter Clothing Drive. Several hundreds of pounds of clothes were donated over the month of September for underserved LAUSD students and their families. Those clothes will now be sorted and distributed the weekend of Oct. 14. You can sign up to be a part of what will be a fun and fulfilling event HERE.
