On Saturday, June 4, Stephen Wise Temple will host Greater Zion Church for a joint in-person Shavuot and Pentecost celebration on Nahmias Plaza. Register here.
Stephen Wise Temple Senior Rabbi Yoshi Zweiback and Greater Zion Church’s Pastor Michael Fisher have brought the Stephen Wise Temple and Greater Zion communities together before during appearances at congregational events, but this evening promises to be even more meaningful.
Come at 6:15 p.m. for food and fellowship, followed by an hourlong program of study and worship beginning at 7 p.m. The program will feature Rabbi Yoshi and Cantor Emma, along with the rest of the Wise clergy, with music from the Stephen Wise Temple Band. Joining them will be Greater Zion’s Pastor Michael Fisher, church deacons, and the choir of Faithful Central Church.
The learning session will include time for teaching, music, and breakout groups for holiday and topical discussion. It will conclude with an 8 p.m. dessert.
The event will be part of a weekend full of community activities.
On Friday, June 3 at 6:15 p.m., our Shabbat evening services will continue our celebration the 50th anniversary of women in the rabbinate with a program entitled “70 Faces of Torah.” In an evening filled with teaching and song, Rabbi Sari Laufer and Cantor Emma will be joined by women rabbis from throughout the Los Angeles area as we commemorate the ordination of Rabbi Sally Priesand, and honor the legacy and future of women in the rabbinate.
On Sunday, June 5, join Rabbi David Woznica and Cantorial Intern Josh Goldberg for our Shavuot Morning Service and Yizkor at 10 a.m.
