We are thrilled to announce that our Wise Readers to Leaders Summer 2023 program is off to a great start!
Following a successful training week that included important learnings from the Children’s Institute, we officially welcomed our scholars to six campuses today! This summer, thanks to a collaboration with City Hearts, will feature even more engaging enrichment sessions, and, thanks to our community’s generosity, both our teen volunteers and scholars will have the chance to visit field trip locations that promise to be informative and exciting.
As part of our staff training at the Children’s Institute, our Tikkun Olam Corps teens joined us and received valuable insights into trauma-informed care. This transformative training equipped us with the necessary tools to make a positive impact on our scholars’ lives, approaching their needs with empathy. We are integrating this invaluable training into our arsenal to combat the Summer Slide.
To enrich our state-of-the-art curriculum even further this year, we have partnered with City Hearts. Through this collaboration, our scholars will have the opportunity to participate in engaging dance and theater classes during our afternoon enrichment sessions. Additionally, thanks to the generosity of our grantors and donors, both our teen volunteers and scholars will have the chance to visit esteemed institutions such as the Grammy Museum, the Getty Museum, the Getty Villa, the California Science Center, the Holocaust Museum, and the Natural History Museum. These excursions promise to be educational and inspiring experiences for all involved.
