At Stephen Wise Temple, our summer Shabbat offerings are different than the ones we have from September through June. While Tot Shabbat and Mountaintop Morning Shabbat take a break, Shabbat itself doesn’t take a vacation.

We invite our whole community—Shabbat regulars and newcomers alike—to enjoy very special Shabbatot in the coming weeks. These services will get you up, out, and on your feet as we take advantage of our beautiful Southern California setting and our unmatched outdoor spaces.

Our Shabbat Evening Services will take place outdoors starting on June 30 in Casden Chapel. Check our calendar each week for the most up-to-date information on service location.

Stephen Wise Temple Musical Summer Shabbat Danny Maseng

Musical Shabbat and Concert
Friday, August 11 | 6:15 p.m. | In person in our Sanctuary, or Watch Online!

Join us for a special celebration of Jewish music and Shabbat here at Wise! Cantor Emma and Musical Director Tali Tadmor will be joined by a special guest: renowned Jewish musician and composer Danny Maseng.

Born in Tel Aviv to an American-born Jewish mother and a Norwegian-American Lutheran father who volunteered in the Israeli Air Force during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, Danny became one of Israel’s first TV stars at a young age and starred on Broadway. He ran the Tiferet Arts program at Olin Sang Ruby Union Institute for eight years, served as the Artistic director of the Brandeis-Bardin Institute, was the founding director of the Jewish Arts Institute, worked closely with Debbie Friedman, has recorded a dozen albums, guest starred on American television shows, and helped found and run the Steven Spielberg Theater Fellowships for the Foundation for Jewish Camping.

Bring your singing voice as we gather in the Sanctuary for a special evening of song. Maseng will lead Shabbat with us with a special mini-concert in the service featuring Cantor Emma’s soulful voice and our Wise band and vocal ensemble led by Tali Tadmor. The special musical celebration will be followed by an outdoor oneg and l’chayyim!

You can enjoy some of Maseng’s melodies HERE.
